Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants, an upscale casual restaurant chain, is expanding to Kansas City’s Twin Creeks Village, its third location in the metro area. The planned Twin Creeks location will feature a “modern artisanal” design influenced by Napa Valley’s working wineries. A massive youth sports complex once criticized as a “tone deaf” waste of millions in taxpayer dollars has finally opened in Kansas City’s Northland, more than three years after it was initially proposed. In addition to the 10 fields, the complex includes an “all-inclusive” playground that is wheelchair accessible and available to children of all abilities.
Platte County R-3 School District is breaking ground on a new, state-of-the-art middle school, as demographic changes bring with them a rise in student numbers and demand for much-needed space. The new school will feature modern design concepts and facilities such as a media center, full-sized gymnasium and commons, outdoor learning space, flexible auditorium, and a track and field area. The new building, which is being constructed as part of a ‘no-tax-increase bond program’, is expected to serve around 600 students and is set to open for the 2023-2024 school year.
Kansas City is set to receive a massive economic development boost in its northland region. This two-part project will consist of a new Costco warehouse club at the corner of 88th and Platte Purchase Drive. Meanwhile, 88-acres of land will be donated to the Platte County R-3 School District, with no current plans in place, but the potential for new high school and middle school facilities. The project marks a new era of growth for Twin Creeks Village and its surrounding developments as they work to bring economic prosperity to the area.
